On October 21, 2019, Vice-President Li Yupeng met with Declan Doyle, Vice-President of Institute of Technology Carlow, accompanied by Pascal Harte, Dean of the Department of Engineering Management, Keith Smyth, Dean of the Department of Electronic Engineering, and Chinese office director Ms. Qu Yifei. The heads of SJZU's International Exchange & Cooperation Department were present.
On behalf of SJZU, Li Yupeng extended his warm welcome to the delegation. They had in-depth communication on the student joint training project. The two sides signed a memorandum of cooperation and established a strategic partnership based on mutual benefits in the fields of student exchange, cooperative education, joint scientific research, etc. Declan Doyle expressed his heartfelt thanks to our school for the warm reception and gave a high appraisal to SJZU's educational philosophy, teaching performance, school culture and environment.
In the afternoon, Declan Doyle delivered a wonderful report entitled "Analysis of Engineering Education in Ireland" in Room Jia 1-501. Starting from the certification of engineers, he made a comprehensive introduction to the engineering education in Ireland. Also, the deans, Pascal Harte and Keith Smyth, introduced the Department of Electronic Engineering and the Department of Engineering Management. More than 230 teachers and students from all schools attended the meeting.
There are many similarities between SJZU and the Institute of Technology Carlow in discipline setting, development planning and other fields. Establishing a strategic partnership based on mutual benefits will promote communication and progress between the two universities. This is the first time for SJZU to communicate and cooperate with an Irish university, which is an important step for SJZU's international development.
