In response to the provincial party committee and provincial government's foreign affair policy of "Strengthening Collaboration with Japan and South Korea", and to consolidate and strengthen the exchanges and collaboration between SJZU and Japanese universities, Professor Yan Weidong, President of SJZU, headed a delegation of four to Saitama Institute of Technology, Meijo University and Osaka University from May 13 to 17, and visited overseas part-time professors of SJZU and some excellent alumni who are working and studying in Japan. During the visit, fruitful results were achieved. President Yan Weidong had in-depth exchanges with the people from Japan universities from all walks of life and reached a consensus in many aspects. Their discussions covered intercollegiate exchanges, scientific research collaboration, talent training, administrative management, etc. Relevant comrades from the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Transportation, and the International Exchange & Cooperation Department accompanied the visit.

    During the visit, the delegation also met with the alumnus Dr. Shi Junji, who studied civil engineering in SJZU and now working in the structural design department of Nikken Sekkei Ltd. The delegation asked about his work and research in Japan and invited him to return to SJZU to participate in the research work of SJZU as a talent of "The Recruitment Program of Global Experts".

    The delegation of SJZU visited three universities in Japan, enhanced the communication between SJZU and the top leaders of the three universities, promoted academic exchanges between SJZU and Japanese universities, and deepened the understanding of Japanese engineering education, which provided reference for the training of talents and the construction of the teaching staff for SJZU, offered an overseas cooperation platform for the future development of construction, civil engineering and mechanical disciplines. It also laid a solid foundation for SJZU to further enhance the influence of international collaboration and build an internationally renowned university.
