Upon the invitation of the International Exchange & Cooperation Department, the Deputy Consul and Visa Officer of the U.S. Consulate General in Shenyang Mr. Ivan Brown and the Culture Assistant Ms. Zhang Chunbo visited SJZU on March 29th. The relevant persons in charge of the International Exchange & Cooperation Department and the School of Foreign Languages met with the visitors and introduced the details of the cooperation between SJZU and the American universities. Deputy Consul Brown said that the U.S. Consulate General in Shenyang will strongly support the cooperation between SJZU and American universities, and provide necessary assistance for teachers and students to apply for U.S. visas. After the meeting, Deputy Consul Brown exchanged ideas with the students of the China-U.S. cooperation program and the teachers and students of the School of Foreign Languages who will go to or intend to go to the United States for further study in the conference room 301 of the office building. During the interaction, Deputy Consul Brown taled about the applications for various types of visas for international students, exchange students, visiting scholars, business and tourism, and explained the points for attention for the teachers and students present in terms of document preparation, appointments, interview, etc. On the spot, Deputy Secretary Brown gave professional answers to the questions raised by teachers and students about visas to the United States.

    The event has strengthened the cultural exchanges between China and the United States, allowing more teachers and students to learn the relevant information about visas for purposes of studying, visiting and traveling in the United States. The U.S. diplomats also welcomed Chinese students to study in the United States to further promote friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries.
