On November 14, Mark, Chief Consultant of International Affairs of Southern Illinois University (SIU), and Li Yi, Director of the International Development of SIU, visited Shenyang Jianzhu University (SJZU). The heads of the School of Foreign Languages and the International Exchange & Cooperation Department met with the visitors. The two sides briefly introduced the basic information of the universities and the advantages of disciplines and had in-depth communication on inter-school exchanges, English summer camps and other issues.
After discussion, SIU agreed to provide tuition relief for in-state students from SJZU. They would also like to facilitate the access to study in SIU for teachers and students in SJZU and further strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between the two universities.
Founded in 1869, SIU is a research-intensive and comprehensive university. It has over 100 undergraduate majors, 63 master's majors and 29 doctoral majors, making it the second largest university system in Illinois.
